chambord Meg here! I did a column for Sheckys.com a few weeks back on how purple is paramount this fall! I have my top purple picks here.  it is Megsmakeup.com so I feel I have fully covered the makeup aspect of this post in this section. Mondays With Meg gives me a bit of freedom to write about, well whatever I want really. It is my site and being America and all that I can pretty much run with it.Kiss

I love to entertain! Maybe it has something to do with appearances and things just looking pretty and perfect but I love to have cocktail parties. Now, I have to have Perrier but that doesn’t mean I don’t remember how to make cocktails for guests! Before Megsmakeup.com I used to run an event company and I learned a bunch of easy peasy hors d’oeuvres. If you’re going to have people over then lets show a little bit more flair then a crudite plate and chips and dip! I’ll add two easy ideas that take no time at all but first lets get to the fun stuff! Let’s talk liquor! *I’m OK, really. I’m good on my break*

A few weeks ago, Zoe Alexander invited my beau and I to come to a great Chambord event during Emmy week. Held at the swanky London Hotel rooftop pool guests were entertained by adorable synchronized swimmers. The ladies entertained with flowered swimming caps and purple parasols as they all got down to such gems as “Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend.” Now, I’m not at all expecting you to recreate this extravaganza the next time you have a get together! I mean, if you have a pool and friends with great swim/dance rhythm then be my guest (so get on it-All ONE of you out there!) I am expecting you to incorporate trends and creativity and delish concoctions to your monthly trivia/girls/bridge night! You Are The Hostess With The Mostess! For those of you that are not familiar, Chambord is a purple colored liqueur that tastes like black rasberry. It is yummy in tons of cocktails. The party was to celebrate the success of the original Chambord and to introduce their newest Chambord Flavored Vodka!

THE HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS SERVES COCKTAILS THAT ARE BOTH ON-TREND AND SHOW OFF A PLUM MANICURE!
These are so easy to make even I can do it. Even could do it when I was drinking. Even could do it when I had A Lot! No kitchen experience needed!

Chambord and Champagne!-Add Chambord Liqueur to the bottom of a flute glass. Add Champagne, top with a fresh rasberry-DONE!

French Martini!
– 1 1/2 oz. of vodka, 1/2 oz of Chambord Liqueur, 3 oz. Pineapple Juice. Shake in your martini shaker, pour into martini glass garnish with with rasberries-Done!

Chambord IceCream-take 2 scoops of icecream and add 3-4 oz. of Chambord Liqueur on the top! Add a rasberry with your cherry!

Meg’s Heart Sandwiches-Large Heart Cookie Cutter (I like the metal ones that are sharp on one side.) Loaf of thin white bread (Wonderbread is fine.) A few cucumbers and cream cheese. Make a cream cheese and cucumber sandwich. Use one slice of cucumber. Take your Heart Cookie Cutter and use it like it’s cookie dough! Voila! Cute and easy finger sandwiches. Get creative, any cookie cutter works!

Meg’s Salad On A Stick
-Everyone loves this, super cute and easy. No need for a plate when you can use a cocktail napkin! Take a kabob stick (they’re like $2 for 100 at the grocery store.) Buy Mozzarella Cheese, Cherry tomatoes, and a pack of basil. Now slice and stack on your stick like you’re building a kabob. I like to do a slice of mozzarella, a piece of basil and next to that half of a cherry tomato. I do this 2x on the stick. I make about 3 kabobs per guest. I then stick them on a platter and use a spray vinaigrette dressing. Simple crowd pleaser!

Meg’s Flowering Ice Cubes! I love flowers and while the peony is my favorite, the purple (and edible pansy) makes even my Perrier look super fabulous. Just fill your icecube tray half way full with water, drop the flowertop of a pansy in each cube (no stem) let the ice freeze, fill the other half with water-this way once your icecube is completely done your gorgeous flower will be center stage, smack in the middle. This takes about 2 minutes prep but gets lots of “oooh’s!”
