One of the things I love about the way I was raised was that my mother was always mindful of feminine ways. I was taught from an early age that a lady always maintains her posture, never leaves the house with chipped nail polish and above all…if she hasn’t anything nice to say then it’s best not to say anything at all. In each of these ways my mother is every inch a lady and I am so blessed to have her teachings to follow. Of course there is more to being a lady than just these examples but I can honestly say that if more girls applied even these three simple rules then the world would be a much more genteel place. In a time where things like lady like manners and basic decency are being replaced with Jersey Shore antics and public dirty laundry tyriads on Facebook…I can only hope that more girls will turn their back on vulgarity and embrace being a lady again!
That said, much credit should be given for embracing the hard earned freedoms and liberties that we as women have struggled for over the years. There is no rule that says a lady can’t be a lady and still rock an edge, push the envelope and be an individual. The two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, I think the best possibilities come from a blending of old world romance and new world feminism. Think Anna Karenina meets Kat Von Dee. How’s that for a mind bender?!
I was completely thrilled when I was gifted a tube of Urban Decay’s Supercurl Curling Mascara to try. Right off I could tell this is my lady meets vixen dream just by the packaging alone. The mirrored gunmetal and black swirling scrolls on the casing are absolutely HOT and had me at “hello lover!” I‘ve been settling for a boring tube of plastic mascara for the last few months and it inspires me NOT. This baby has me more than inspired…it has me yearning again! I actually look forward to whipping out this sleek and sexy tube and transforming my wimpy little lashes into curl-tastic works of art! The molded and curved wand instantly combs and separates the formula, pulling it through your lashes and making your peepers pop. I found that just one or two coats applied low at the base and rounded out to the tip gives the illusion of curl that you don’t naturally possess and really make a huge difference in the look of your lashes. The formula is wearable and lasts all day without flaking or smudging. It wasn’t until I hit my water aerobics class that evening that it broke down under the elements of my day. According to Urban Decay “curl makes a lady” and with this in your corner it may be all you need to start your transformation from dull debutante to decadent diva!
“Packed with glycoprotein for lash thickening, moringa seeds to help with curl definition, and Meadowfoam seed oil and Shea Butter for conditioning and smoothing” this powerful little tube of perfection has everything you need to complete a flawless and guilt free look. Never tested on animals, cruelty free and vegan where possible you can be sure to swipe away with the clump free formula and come out with lashes that flatter and never look over done.”
We all know how incredible Urban Decay is and it’s no secret that we can’t gush enough about them. In fact, we are such fans that I worry sometimes that people will believe we are being paid to endorse them or simply bribed to talk them up. Happily I can say no…this is not the case. They simply are a stellar company with superior product and a conscience to go along with it. From the first time I was hooked on their incredible eye shadows, the silkiness of their 24/7 eyeliner, the jaw dropping beauty of of their packaging and the cutting edge sharpness of their forward thinking products…I knew this was going to be a relationship for life. Or for at least as long as I can pull off glitter eyeliner without looking like an aged drag queen.
It’s going to be a treat to get to use up every little smidge of this mascara and I have to admit I’ll be sad when it’s time to toss it in the rubbish bin. It’s almost too pretty to dispose of! Though Urban Decay’s Supercurl Curling Mascara might be a little to fashion forward for my mothers tastes, I can definitely say she would approve of the lady like way it accents my eyes with precision, curl and depth and not a bit of heavy handed clumpiness or spider looking lashes. Congratulations Urban Decay…you’ve done it again! GLAM ON!!!
Have any of you tried a curling mascara? What did you think?
