NYX! RETRACTABLE EYELINER!

NYX! RETRACTABLE EYELINER!

NYXRETRACTEYELINERStacy B here! Life at the ‘B’ household has been a little crazy lately. Hubby got a new job, is traveling a ton (like to places like Arizona, Germany, Chicago, Switzerland and more), we’re getting some work done in our house on our bathroom and dining room, and my little toddler will be 3 in a few weeks and is trying to drop his nap. Please, please, please keep napping. Just for another month or two, I need that break!

And the biggest thing: I’m fighting through the first trimester haze that is sleep, nausea, hormones and food issues. That’s right ladies, there will be a new Baby B in our household sometime in April 2012.  Yay! Now pass the Tums and get your hands off my ginger ale.

Due to my ‘delicate condition’, good quality products are a must right now. Not only am I really focused on organic and all natural products and things that are good for my overly sensitive and very acne-prone skin right now! The smells have to be mild, the cost has to be low, and it has to make me look like I’m the fresh-faced, well rested, energetic me that I’m used to! Not the weepy, tired, ‘get-that-horrible-smelling-piece-of-chicken-away-from-me-before-I-vomit’ pregnant lady that I am now.

Last week I gave you a review for an all-natural foot lotion that I felt pretty good about. Introduce week 12 hormones. I tried it again last night and almost lost my dinner the smell was so strong. And for some reason, rubbing it on my own (clean) feet made me tear up and gag a little. I have no idea why, they are my feet. And they were clean! Aside from the obvious discomfort, pregnancy can be pretty funny. I tucked it away for another time.

This week I decided to pick something that couldn’t trigger my gag reflex: Eyeliner. And since my hormones are all over the place, I chose a brand I know I’ve had good luck with: NYX. My goal this week was to still look great even though I am exhausted from growing a human inside me and from being alone for 8 days with my son Kyle while Daddy was in Switzerland (yes, he brought me back chocolate!) The NYX Retractable Eyeliner was perfect with so many color choices to brighten up my eyes.

Since I love to mix and match, I used some tips from pros to create the illusion that I was awake all day. I used Deep Blue on my upper lids which is like a navy blue to brighten the whites of my eyes, and then swiped a REALLY thin line of silver along the lower lids and in the corners of my eyes to brighten. This stuff is so great, it goes on so smoothly and easily, the retractable liner is actually pretty good at creating both a thicker line and a thin one and the colors are really vibrant. I looked much more awake than I felt!

The blue stayed on all day, no problem. It came off with a light swipe of a wash cloth with a little soap on it, no tugging on that sensitive eye skin for me! The silver didn’t stay as well. Right after I got home from work I noticed that the silver line was a little smudged and not as noticable. But that lower lash is tricky. If you have watery eyes it can really be hard to keep it on all day. The dots in the corners of my eyes stayed and after a pretty long day, I was not surprised that the silver was fading on me. I tried it for a girls night out and put it on a little thicker and it lasted much better. Thick silver eye liner just isn’t really doable for my workplace!

There are 15 colors for this liner and they are really great. The black and brown are both very pigmented and the colors are really fun but not too ‘clown’ if you know what I mean. I loved the silver, gold and white for lower lash and corner highlighters, and surprisingly, I actually really liked their torquoise blue. It was more subtle than it sounds, but still fun. They are so thin you can take them anywhere and at only $4.50 each, you can buy a bunch of colors and have fun experimenting and dressing up outfits without hurting your wallet. NYX is just constantly impressing me. Now, do you think they’ll make me a mascara that lasts through labor and delivery? Come on NYX, you have 6 more months.

I think we’ve asked this before, but who else is loving NYX? AND CONGRATS STACY!!
