CHRISTINE HAIRCARE! CASSADEE POPE LOVES THIS SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER DUO! SPECIAL COUPON CODE 30% OFF healthyhair

CassadeePopeChristineMeg hair! I have to admit, I don’t watch a ton of TV. It’s not because I think I’m too intellectual for it, it’s just between Facebook, Instagram and TMZ-who has the time. My boyfriend watches two shows, 60 Minutes and The Voice. Two shows I will never be on.

I actually recognized someone from TV when I was google-ing an image for Christine. For all you “The Voice” fans Cassadee Pope loves Christine Haircare and apparently, America Loves Cassadee Pope. She’s got a great voice and great hair. I’m never going to have a great voice but I can have great hair (Disclaimer-this product works amazing but I never have “great hair” unless my extensions are in and I’ll been to DryBar.)

With all the damage I do to my hair it’s a wonder I have any strands left on my head at all! Hair damage runs much deeper than you know. And unfortunately most hair products on the market today merely offer “smoke and mirror” solutions to coat the problems- not fix them.

Personally, I don’t like “smoke and mirrors”. They’re bad for your hair and bad for your bank account. And I’ve quit smoking-So there’s that!

Christine is a brand on a mission to bring real repair to hair care. Now that’s something to sing about! They promise to dramatically restore youthful, healthy hair that you can see and feel. Their exclusive Life Complex® combines the most effective all-natural ingredients and is expertly formulated to penetrate deep through the cuticle layers (where other products just can’t reach) and ACTUALLY replenish the lost keratin and essential proteins you lose daily back into your hair. So they are truly rebuilding your healthiest hair from the inside out. That means REAL hair repair where you need it most.

Christine proudly introduces their exclusive Life Complex®. This is important because it doesn’t strip color or loosen my extensions!

It is an expertly formulated combination of Keratin, Silk and Jojoba, delivering all of the essential proteins and nutrients needed to reverse damage and rejuvenate hair and skin. These 3 key, all-natural ingredients are the most similar to the hair and skin’s composition and the most effective to repair it.

Decades of salon and professional manufacturing testing has shown that these ingredients will give your hair back what it loses every day. You will have healthier hair than you ever knew was possible.

It has also really reduced my snarls and tangles!

DEBI DUMAS (CELEB HAIR COLORIST) FILLS US IN ON ALL THE “COLOR TRENDS” IN HOLLYWOOD! PINK ANYONE?
DebiDumas
Meg Hair! First, it was Katy Perry with the lavender or was it Kelly Osborne? Nicole Richie? I can’t keep up with who started the purple craze. All I know is it opened a Pandora’s Box of color that would make the Easter Bunny proud. I’m seeing all sorts of shades all over Hollywood. Maybe blondes don’t have more fun… I needed to know the new color craze so I enlisted Celebrity Colorist to the Stars, Debi Dumas (clients are Chelsea Handler, Russell Crowe, Patti Stanger, Candace Cameron…)

She just moved to a new great location on one of the hottest street in Beverly Hills, to her new salon-Rossano Ferretti! She decided to go with a European based salon (Italy).Over 20 salons worldwide. Debi always likes sexy/sophistication/on trend…customized color tailored for each individual.  Here is Hollywood’s latest techniques, whether it’s hand painted balayage hilights or foil, with some fun colors mixed in!
5 Dance Colors: Color with the Stars
grace
Waltz:   platinum w a hint of pastel ( cool pale blue, whisper of lavender).  Very ethereal.  Done by using an all over bleach and tone.   A very grown up, couture look- think Grace Kelly, not Pink.

candaceJive/Contemporary:  Modern, fun, playful soft waves with golden colors- sophisticated beach look.  Done by painting on scattered sun kissed hi-lights of different blonde/golden brown hues

rhiannaTango: Intense red tones, of ruby, fiery copper, or merlot.  Sexy and hot!  Done by color blocking technique- back to back all over color, to add dimension to dull monochromatic tones- adds movement and breaks up a solid look- just like we are seeing in fashion for summer ’15.

JOICO LAUNCH PARTY! NEVER LET ANYONE DULL YOUR SPARKLE! GOLD DUST SHIMMER FINISHING SPRAY!

joico gold dust

Meg hair! A few weeks back, Joico had a wonderful launch for some of their new products at the always chic Cecconi’s restaurant in West Hollywood. My wonderful friend Kavita Daswani picked me up and we were off to see the latest and greatest from this iconic line. I have been using the K-pak since it came in a purple grey colored bottle. Even before my hair started to turn grey (so we’re talking early high school years.)

“Never Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle” This is an actual photo of what hangs next to my bathroom vanity mirror. It’s a good little reminder. Sometimes, a few of my grey hairs stand straight off my scalp with a lovely wiry pubic hair texture. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and don’t understand how my friends didn’t alert me to a giant blackhead in my ear. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and see dark circles and bags under my eyes so dramatic I mistake myself for Tommy Lasorda. Then I remember a joke I cracked the night before that was completely wrong and innapropriate and how everyone had a great belly laugh. I hope people more remember that about me than a few greys, blemishes and bags (unless the bag is Chanel-remember that.)

sparkle

I’m a girl that’s all about sparkle. Not the teenage glitter stuff. The grown up girl sparkle-the sexy, come hither sheen that glistens perfectly by candlelight. I was really impressed with all of Joico’s new line up. What have I been grabbing for in the evenings? GOLD DUST SHIMMER FINISHING SPRAY. Here’s why it is perfect for blondes, it brightens and adds light, depth and a subtle shiny sparkle. It smells delicious and it’s actually doing secret undercover agent work! Not only does it add sex appeal, it’s working with Joico’s Bio-Advanced Peptide Complex to repair and protect your hair. As a former brunette (sorry, I had to go bottle blonde-the greys are just too damn expensive to cover every ten days!) I hit the spray tan machine at least once a week. I have to or else I will look completely washed out. This little, cost effective bottle ($8!) even helps my skin. When you apply Gold Dust Shimmer, you use it exactly like you would a hairspray, I like to spray it a little heavier around my face. The wisps along my forehead and sides really add light and frame your skin. You will get Gold Dust ON YOUR FACE. Not a lot, and not glaring. I love this “mistake” it adds such a sweet shimmer to your skin you instantly look healthier. It’s perfect for a night on the town, holiday party or hot date night. The last time I used this I was told “Your skin look amazing! You look like an angel.” EDITOR SIDENOTE-I’M NO ANGEL.

This has been my go-to, before I’m out the door it takes all of 30 seconds and the results are fabulous. Joico put on a very nice dinner. Below is a picture of the table as we walked in. Next, Kavita Daswani (LA TIMES) and I looking very intrigued at the new line. Bottom left, Kirbie Johnson (PopSugar) and I having a love.

joicoparty

Any other fans of Joico? Which product is your favorite? How about Sparkle? Too girlie and young or do you have your own favorite sheen?

CHRISTINE! FOUR PRODUCT LINE BY VAN THOMAS CONCEPTS

christine hair glaze

Meg here! Hope everyone has been having a great week! Today, I have a great new paraben free and sulfate free line to introduce you to. “Christine” hair care line by Van Thomas concepts.

There are 4 great products in the line, a shampoo, conditioner, body wash and what I’m grabbing for constantly The Christine Protective Glaze. It’s hair bootcamp over at Megsmakeup land. Between the incessent blow outs, the hot rollers, constantly keeping the color up and a myriad of sprays, foams and mousses… My faux tresses can get worse for the wear.

You know I pray nightly that wigs come into fashion and it seems as though no beauty experts are helping me out with this wish. I have to keep on fighting the good fight! I’m at the end of my 4 month mark of my extensions. That’s when they turn from lush and perfect to ratty and string like with a side of frizz and dryness-SEXY!

I really need to get to NYC and have them redone but as I look at my tax bill, that’s probably not going to be hapening in the immediate week or two. What’s a girl to do? I am holding onto dear life for my Christine Protective Glaze! The glaze is light weight and the bottle is a large size so it has really been lasting me. Once I’m done with my conditioner and wash my hair clean, I squeeze out any excessive water. I then apply a little more than the size of a dime (OK, maybe two dimes) to my palms. Avoiding my roots, I just run it through my hair. By the time I step onto my bath mat to blow my hair out, my tresses are tangle free and feel-dare I say it? Healthy!

The glaze utilizes Life Complex, a formula or keratin, jojoba oils and silk proteins along with grape and hemp seed oils, enriching olive fruit oil and essential vitamin B5. That’s a pretty strong army of protection they’ve got going on over there so it only makes sense it’s going to work. The formula acts as an emollient, locks in color and provides an additional defense against chemical treatments, heat treatments and UV rays, all while adding vibrant shine to all types of hair.

Van Thomas is the hair guru behind this genius product. I’m enjoying all of them but am obsessing over this one so I had to start here. Thomas has had an extensive career in all aspects of hair care including nearly two decades at JOICO.

After a brief stint at retirement, Thomas faced a personal tragedy and lost his vibrant daughter Christine. The loss forced Thomas to throw himself into a new, creative endeavor and inspired this fantastic new hair care line “Christine.” As a labor of love to not only your hair but his wonderful daughter.

I’ve been using the glaze daily for about 2 weeks and while I am at the end of my extension run, I am able to hide it pretty well. No thanks to the tax man!

Give this line a try, it’s lightweight and I’m told it smells delicious (still having sinus trouble.) The price point is wallet friendly and most importantly-it works!! CHECK IT OUT HERE!

MARCO PELUSI ANTI-FRIZZ LEAVE IN CONDITIONER WITH COLLAGEN COLOR GUARD! HUMP DAY HAIR DAY!

marcocolor

Meg hair! There are a few items in our arsenal that we just can’t part with. We can try the latest and the greatest but we always come back to our favorite tried and trues. With my long extensions, I’m always trying different leave-ins and hair masques to keep my (my as in, bought) tresses healthy and tangle free. I’ve tried them all and the one I constantly reach for is from my friend Marco Pelusi.

Since I’m back on the market, I’ve got to get myself into fighting shape! Like a boxer preparing himself to hop back into the ring, I have to get ready for the big match. And by big match, I mean a bunch of dinner dates that I’m forcing myself to go on.

I’m not really looking forward to being back on the dating scene but I figure, like any good soldier-I have to be armed. Spray tans, manicures, teeth bleaching, facials this whole ordeal is exhausting even before you get to the darn dinner. The most important exterior feature? Great hair. Yes, I took my fake haired self off to get the most natural color and I drove myself to see my friend Marco for a little touch up.

Marco Pelusi has not only been named “Best LA Colorist” for years but he’s also quite a joy to be around and a friend I can count on for many years. Marco took one look at my dreaded roots and brought me into championship form! Here’s a picture of the color he created. With all of the coloring that I do, my hair should be a frightful, dry piece of straw.

A lot of celebrities go to Marco and I know that the one product of his that they cannot live without is his Leave In Anti-Frizz Conditioner With Collagen Color Guard. I am going to post a review I wrote years ago. The description and results are still wonderful. It also explains how Marco and I became friends. Thank you Marco! I felt confident walking into my dinner and my hair color still looks great. My hair stays smooth, healthy and all it takes is a pump or two from your miracle Leave in.

marcopelusicollagenMeg here to bring you reviews on one of Marco Pelusi’s signature, cult-favorite products, his leave in anti-frizz conditioner.

Living in LA has it perks! I was eating dinner at my trusty deli when Mr. Marco himself popped into the booth next to me. I had to speak to him. You knw when you’re in the presence of someone that just exudes upbeat energy and a great smile and full out beams friendliness it’s hard to not want to strike up a chat. Mr. Marco is all of those things, he is simply delightful and I was so happy I got the chance to become his friend. This was a few years back so Megsmakeup.com was not even a blip on my radar (um computer) screen at that point. I just wanted to get to know someone that was so passionate and creative and talented. Within the first 15 minutes of chatting with Marco he was already telling me some great ideas for my hair color.

When Marco decided to open a new salon he graciously invited me to his very fabulous opening party. Great food, drinks and goody bags of his new signature products were included. I also got to meet Marco’s dad. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, the entire Pelusi clan is warm and talented!

At this point, I had started Megsmakeup, so when I got home I dived into my new Marco Pelusi products. They were all fab and geared toward color treated hair (as you all know-I am slave to the dye) so I was in Heaven. Unfortunately, having to dye my hair so often leaves the ends dry and brittle and fly-away. This is why, I can tell you, Marco’s leave in conditioner is a Godsend.

It works on my thin hair without weighing it down and without any greasy feeling. It doesn’t give the appearance of oily-just healthy. With a pump (yes ladies, a pump-hooray~) I add this to wet, but towel dried hair and I can actually get a comb through my tresses without the slightest bit of pull. I’ve spoken to other women that love this as well. The funny thing is, we all have different hair textures. From my lifeless hair to my girlfriends that battle hair bulge and poofiness-well, it appears to universally work. How the heck did he manage that?

For my lucky LA area girls, Marco’s salon is right in West Hollywood and it is tranquil and gorgeous. I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you he won MyFOXLA Best Hair Color! So he’s a true artist that knows not only how to give you your perfect shade but then how to protect it with his products. My hair color truly is more vibrant and longlasting with his color guard protection!

Here’s what Marco says about his Leave In Conditioner “this signature product is an exclusive, anti-frizz formula that repairs, restores and rebuilds, leaving the hair and scalp comforted and protected. an ultra luxurious, light and airy leave-in conditioner expressly formulated to replenish the hair’s own natural reserves to boost condition, as well as haircolor longevity, vitality and tone. tames curly, coarse hair while allowing for easy comb-thru and a smooth, healthy appearance.”

• naturally derived from coconut, cetrimonium chloride is the most potent anti-frizz element available to moisturize and neutralize static electricity; effects last for up to 72 hours even when rinsed with water

• usp grade vitamin e, one of the most powerful antioxidants available from nature, protects the hair from hostile environmental factors, including pollution, aging and stress

• apricot essential oils fight dryness and cell dehydration

• natural moisturizing factors, including sodium pca, volumize the hair for optimal styling and manageability

BRIOGEO HAIR CARE!

briogeo

Meg Hair! You know when you have a new beauty find and you just want to shout it from the rooftops? You think “It is my duty to help other women and I must share!” My girlfriend asked me if she could send me her review of BrioGeo Hair Care. She’s is loving the way her hair has been looking so I, of course said “Send it on over lady!”

Spend $50 and free samples. My latest hair obsession is with BrioGeo Hair Care. There aren’t actually that many hair brands that work for my fine, wavy hair. I have tried some really expensive and really cheap-o brands, and most of them are just meh. When I want curls, this is my new go-to brand.

How do you pronounce it and what does it mean? Briogeo [bree-oh-jhee-oh] Brio = vivid, full of life, distinct;  Geo = of earth, nature.

Be Gentle Be Kind Cleansing Shampoo is perfect for any hair type or texture. It’s gentle on hair – including color treated hair, and it’s made with green tea, bamboo, avocado, Vit B5, Vit E, collagen and aloe. No sulfates, parabens, silicones or phthalates, if you’re avoiding those ingredients. The formula is made with 95% naturally derived ingredients.

The Curling Charisma Curl Defining Conditioner gives me CRAZY curls! I love it! It doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. It’s made with rice amino acids, marine-derived collagen, rosehip oil, almond oil, oyster plant (not ACTUAL oysters!), tomato fruit, bamboo, orange peel, Vit E and shea butter. It does have keratin amino acids (from wool) and silk proteins, so it’s cruelty free but not vegan. Sounds like it would weigh down hair, but it doesn’t! The best thing for me to do is squeeze gently and pat dry with a microfiber hair towel. Then scrunch my curls (maybe add a little styling product) and then air dry. Or I can dry with a diffuser if I don’t have time to let it dry.

Wondering why sulfates are bad? Well, some people say they are harmful to your health. Personally, I avoid them because they strip away hair color and that’s particularly bad when you’re trying to keep your hair red (which washes out more easily than any other color). Here’s what BrioGeo has to say about sulfates:

“Sulfates are harsh, synthetic salts that are used as cleaning agents in a myriad of applications—ranging from personal care to household cleaners. While effective at getting rid of dirt and oil, the use of sulfates in hair care products has become a controversial topic for many reasons.”

The use of sulfates that come in contact with the scalp have reported skin related issues such as epidermal irritation, dryness, redness, itchiness, and in some instances, hair loss stemming from follicle inflammation. In addition, sulfates can be harmful to the hair itself, stripping strands of their natural oils and leaving them prone to dryness, dullness, and breakage.

We’ve formulated our sulfate-free Be Gentle, Be Kind™ shampoo cleanser with surfactants derived naturally from fatty & amino acids and vegetable & coconut oils that cleanse the hair and produce a luxurious, hydrating lather.”

You can find BrioGeo at Fred Segal and online. When ordering online, you get free shipping over $50 and free samples.

I’m really happy with this brand and wanted to give you all a heads up! What is your holy grail item! Please share!!

LISA OLIVER! ROSSANO FERRETI HAS JUST LANDED THE “BLONDE BOMBSHELL” EXPERT!

lisaoliver

“Once upon a time, Lisa Oliver was a cutting-edge stylist. On any given day, you might spot Johnny Depp or Courtney Cox sitting in her chair. Since then, she’s evolved into one of today’s master hair colorists, with a “go to” reputation among LA’s fashionistas and style police. Mention her name in certain circles, and these are some of the clients you’ll hear about: Michelle Pfeiffer, Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin, Goldie Hawn, Sherilyn Fenn, Dina Waters, Ellen Pompeo and Heather Locklear, just to name a few.

But enough with the name-dropping. Lisa is a down-to-earth gal who sees the superstar in everyone. Color is her art. And each new client is a masterpiece waiting to happen. That’s why she takes the time to create a customized color solution that positively accentuates the face and complements the skin. Her color palette encompasses everything from sun-kissed blonde to bold, fiery reds. (Just ask Marcia Cross.) But she’s not afraid to go to the dark side as well.

So, when you’re ready to find the color that best expresses your passion and personality, Lisa is ready to be your “go to” gal.”

Meg hair (yes, that was on purpose.) That’s the press release out on Lisa Oliver. I have been lucky enough to know Lisa for years. Once in a while, when there is downtime (she really doesn’t have a lot.) She’ll do me a solid and fit me into her chair. Sally Hershberger salon is where I first encountered this artist. Sally Hershberger Salon was rated for years and years as “THE TOP L.A. SALON.” To be honest, the salon itself, while very nice is not the reason you would go. The reason was the talent that worked under the Hershberger roof. It’s always fun to see a big celebrity sitting next to you under a dryer, that fun doesn’t carry over if your hair looks like crap a week later.

No one stays #1 forever. Ask Studio 54 or Spago or Sassoon. However Chanel is doing a pretty decent job. Anyhow, much like the housing market, these things at best have a solid, stellar decade run. Then it’s on to the next, hot thing. Seriously, you should have seem me 15 years ago. As Springsteen sings “Glory Days.”

The ticker was running out for Sally Hershberger’s LA Salon. New, hot, salons began springing up and talent was wanting a change.

I next met up with Lisa Oliver at her new salon. Like hair, she had to grow.

I’m linking what the Rossano Ferreti salon looks like, other than that. I will be linking to the unbias reviews from Yelp.

It goes without saying that Lisa weighed all of her options from all of the top salons before making her jump to her new home at Rossano Ferreti. It also will come as no shock to you that all of her A-List clients followed in droves.

Lisa Oliver is an amazing haircolorist. The best of the best and here is something I would like to concentrate on. Lisa is a wonderful person. Her talent speaks to itself. I could write on and on about how she knows the “perfect color for your face” and how non-celebs FLY ALL OVER THE WORLD TO SEE HER-NOT MAKING IT UP. READ YELP. IT’S CRAZY!!!

You can be a fabulous colorist but I think you have to be an fantastic person to keep getting these accolades. I was having a not-so-amazing day and while Lisa and her team made my outside look movie star worthy, she made my inside feel lighter. I vented and Lisa had her assistant grab me a glass of champagne as she didn’t just “hmm & haw” over it but really listened. Listening to a clients needs and delivering on them will make you a success. Lisa Oliver did all this for my hair. She then listened to my heart and brain and was quick with a fabulous therapist referral. Who does that? Lisa does. She knoes she can make anyone look like Goldie Hawn on the outside, when you’re feeling like Goldie Hawn, First Wives Club on the inside. She helps fix that as well.

Lisa colored me you a youthful, fresh and glamorous blonde. That’s a given though. That’s why she is constantly ranked as one of the top colorists in the WORLD. Lisa also gave me a hug and a phone number and more than a few laughs. That is why she ranks as a top person in the WORLD.

If you want to become a great color, go see Lisa Oliver. If you always wanted to test if “Blondes Have More Fun?” Don’t attempt it without Lisa. She has created Hollywood’s most famous Blonde Bombshells. She knows what she’s doing! If you want to become blonde, have had a “meh” day and want to walk out of her chair with newfound confidence not only on the uside but beaming from within? Call Lisa Oliver. That’s her thing.

TRESEMME! KERATIN SMOOTHING SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER!

TRESSEMME

Stacy B here! I’m not sure how to start off this post right now. Yet again, we have an unspeakable tragedy hanging over us, and makeup posts seem insignificant. But we must move on with our lives in order to restore some normalcy while dealing with tragedies.

Marathon Monday is ingrained in a Bostonian’s brain from a very young age and is hard to really explain to those who have never experienced it. It’s the start of spring, happier days, warmer weather, no more threats of snow, leaves budding, flowers blooming, people emerging from their winter caves, the Red Sox, school’s out, BBQs, parties, friends, beers, sports on all day, runners, wheelchair racers, pace cars, legendary athletes, TV coverage, and for 26 miles, the best the human mind and body can offer.

And for those of us that live along the race route (I’m at mile 3!) the above is magnified a million times. There’s a buzz in the air that only a true New Englander who’s survived yet another long, cold, winter can truly understand. It’s the season of optimism, hope and pride. And warm sun! And now, that day will be forever tainted.

I will not go into details, I’m sure you know them all. But I can tell you this. Boston will not crumble. This day will return in all its glory next year, with more pride, passion and love than ever. And we will get the person that shattered our perfect day.  My husband worked through college at the store where the first bomb went off, and watched the marathon from that spot many times. I can’t begin to express how grateful I am that we have not gone into the city for years, thanks to my two little boys. They give us an excuse to stay in the calmer suburbs! The hunny has vowed to run next year in support, and defiance. I am scared, but I want him to do it. I want everyone to do it to prove that this city will not back down!

I have no good transition here, so I’m going to jump right in to less important topics. My hair! Last week I told you about Tresemme’s Keratin Smoothing Treatment and said I’d be trying the shampoo and conditioner from the same line. Well, I did. And it’s not bad.

My hair is not one to be messed with (much like my fellow Bostonians) so I hesitate to jump into new things. This was surprisingly good. My hair has been smooth, frizz-free and manageable for the last week or so. That’s something to be said! It’s getting really long and hard to deal with again, despite a cut a few weeks ago. It just grows so fast, especially as the weather gets warmer. This set has kept me from that awful sticky, thick feeling. It’s been fairly easy to dry and style and my style holds all day. I’m not sure I want to permanently switch from my previous brand, but I would say this was just about equally as successful. So since I have a lot of thick hair, the build up happens every few months. I’d be comfortable enough with Tresemme to swtich back and forth.

The bottles are huge, and you don’t have to use a ton to get through your hair. It lathers really well and the conditioner rinses pretty easily. As we do head into warmer weather, the true test will be the first few humid days. We’ve had some warmer rain lately (and by warmer for April in New England, I mean high 50s, low 60s!) and my hair has behaved. That’s pretty impressive! I like this stuff and am happy with the price, too.

My apologies for the lack of detail in this post, but a few thoughts about shampoo and conditioner is all I could muster after the week we’ve had here in Boston. But don’t worry, we’ll be just fine.

TRESEMME! KERATIN INFUSING SMOOTHING SERUM!

TRESEMME

Stacy B here! It’s spring! Well, sort of. I still have to bundle the kids in hats and mittens in the mornings, but the afternoons are starting to warm up! I swear I heard birds this morning.

I really want to be able to turn my heat off soon, it’s been a few months of processed heat and dry air and it’s taken a toll. My hair was acting up big time a few weeks ago, and I knew it was time for a change. My hair is very thick and wavy so when it feels sticky after drying it straight in no humidity, I know it’s time for something new. If you have thick hair, you know what I mean by sticky…that feeling that your hair is clumping together and getting heavier and heavier. No matter how much you straighten it, brush it, blow it out, it just feels weighted down and stuck together.

When I get that feeling, it’s one of two things. I need a cut (which I knew I was due) or my product has built up and I need to do some sort of cleanse or switch up my products. So, since I love my products now, I went for the cut option. In theory, it was a great cut. Long layers, thinned out, a little weight taken out of it…but the next day, I still had that heavy, flat feeling. Off to try some new product!

I’ve been hearing a lot about Keratin treatments (anyone who’s had one, fill me in! Did you like it, hate it, love it??) so I thought I’d try a product that advertised itself as “infused with keratin” so I could test the waters. I didn’t want to totally change my whole routine, so I stuck with my normal shampoo and subbed out my normal straightening serum for Tresemme’s Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum.

It took almost 3 pumps of this stuff to get through all my thick hair, but it smoothed in very nicely. The serum was more liquid than I thought it would be, so I had to be careful not to let it run between my fingers and onto the floor. But I liked that, because it didn’t feel like I was adding any weight to my hair and it felt like it blended in well and got to every piece of hair. This didn’t add to my drying time (which I found some heavier products can do), and definitely made a difference.

My hair was less sticky and heavy, and moved a bit more. It felt a little smoother than normal, although I didn’t notice any extra shine at all. And since it’s still very low humidity out here in the Northeast, I can’t tell you if it passed the frizz test. But, it accomplished what I wanted it to, my hair feels light, swishy, manageable and it held my style all day. While I’m sad to see my old product get moved to the back of the shelf, this is a good replacement. And knowing my hair, in a few months, this will become built up and I’ll have to switch back. But I’ve been doing that my whole life, so my products know to just wait for their turn in the rotation!

I didn’t make the jump to the full line of shampoo, conditioner and heat styling treatment because I wasn’t sure it would work and that’s a lot to spend on a guess! Since this was successful, I’m going to try the shampoo and conditioner next week and see how things go.

HOW MANY HAIR PRODUCTS DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR ROTATION AT ONE TIME?

THE TRUTH ABOUT “TV HAIR” OR HOW TO BLOW YOUR CHILD’S COLLEGE FUND

MEG HAIR

MEGHAIR2

Meg hair! You want to know what stinks? When you’re five years old in a sandbox and everyone else in the group picture has cute ponytails and you have tufts on your head and your grandfather refers to you as “his little Ed Asner.”

Being bald due to cancer must be terrible. I mean, you have cancer, so there are bigger issues. I never had cancer. I was just bald because God has a very good sense of humor and that’s life.

Now, I have long, luscious hair. Amazing. It only took 10 orphans in a poor Indian village to get it. So, win? Win?

I can lie and tell you if you use this product your hair will grow. It doesn’t. I spend the GDP of a poor nation on my tresses. Because I am on TV and I HAVE TO. Those long full locks with a slight curl on the end? Yes, they’re as natural as my full C+ boobies and plump upper lip.

Jessica comes to my house after I’ve spent $300 on new, auburn Indian hair. She has to remove all of the old stuff. It gets ratty. I’ve got my extensions out and now she is coloring the remaining pieces I have in. She has to, we have to make the new hair perfectly match. It’s step one in a process that will take hours and almost $1,000 a month. I think I’m JLo.

Full hair is sexy, full hair equates youth and health and vitality. Full hair has always eluded me, until I took the hit to my wallet and decided “full hair” was worth it.

This is totally random but I remember when Kirstie Alley joined “CHEERS” and she was the hot bar manager that everyone thought was so sexy and wanted to bone. I remember thinking “She’s not that cute. She just has FABULOUS hair.” Give that chick a buzz cut and no one is giving her a second glance. That my friend, is the power of hair.

Every summer in high school I would look forward to returning in September. Your head sweats and your hair grows in the summer months. I wanted to be the sexy girl with the flowing tresses past my shoulder. It grew past my shoulder. Much like a dandelion. A dead weed would grow and my hair would thin out and be split. Nothing like those Pantene ads had promised.

I got hip to the game and being around entertainment schools you pretty quickly “nothing is real.” Today, I drove to Reseda to BUY the most perfect auburn locks. The ones that Jessica will sew into my head.

Is it expensive? Hell yes! Is it worth it? Hell yes!

By the end of tonight I will have AMAZING auburn locks. The kind that take 10 years off my age. When I meet a guy (IN LA, he knows what they are and “gets it.”) When I meet a guy in any other part of the country he assumes I’ve had a serious brain injury and the screws at my scalp keep my head from falling to pieces.<--break->

I’ve had boyfriends say “Take them out! I want to run my fingers through your hair.” I dismiss this request, as it usually comes from the same boyfriend that says “I love you natural.” All the while, the night he decided he was in love with me was the night I had spent an hour on my makeup and 20 minutes on my fake eyelashes.

So there it is. The before and after! WHAT DO YOU DO FALSE TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL REAL?
