DOVE! BODY MIST!

DOVE! BODY MIST!

dovebodymistStacy B here! Is anyone else green with envy over Meg’s super-glamorous Fashion Week posts? I sure am. I even wore sky high heels to work as a show of solidarity this week. Of course, I sit at a desk all day so my feet didn’t really suffer like Meg’s must have. It was the thought that counts! I wrote this post last week but Meg had such awesome material from NYC that I’m glad she didn’t post it. My poor little post was feeling a bit insecure around all those high-style videos and tips we got last week!

Here’s what I wrote (with some minor edits to keep it relevant this week), I hope this isn’t a huge let-down after last week’s excitement!)Kiss

It’s really September…not even just September but technically it’s mid-September. Ugh. I have a hard time accepting September. I love the summer more than anything and living in New England, it’s not that long. September symbolizes the end of my favorites: sun, water, beach, cook outs, boat rides, sunlight later in the day and cute dresses. I know, fall is great, all that foliage, apple picking, football, knee-high boots, sweaters, cooler nights and no humidity, but I’m just not ready for it. I desperately cling to Labor Day weekend like it’s my last few days on earth.

Each year we have a big party at my grandfather’s home on a lake in central Mass on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. We jokingly call it ‘Rock the Dock” and with boat rides, beer tubs, margaritas, trampolines and a grill that never stops, the dock does get rocked. It’s a bittersweet day, we always have a ton of fun, but that’s it until June! There’s a lot of prep and planning that goes into the party and I’ve been known to take advantage of serious summer clearance sales for a new bathing suit, hat, shades, or beach wrap (or all of the above!) just for this last beach blowout.

It’s not just about looking good, but smelling good, too. After the sunscreen, sometimes I feel like I smell a little too SPF-y. I want to smell fresh and floral without a heavy perfume smell that just covers up the sunscreen smell. Dove has a great solution. Their body mists are so cute, great smelling and fit perfectly in any beach bag. I used the Rebalance Body Mist. Don’t worry, I wasn’t feeling unbalanced, I just liked the smell. It was flowery with a bit of lavendar, which I love.

It smells strong at first, but settles nicely into your skin. It’s very light, not sticky and absorbs fast so you don’t have to worry about sand sticking to your skin if you use it on the beach. It’s very fresh and floral, just what I wanted. I find that using a spritz every few hours kept me smelling and feeling light, airy and sweet.

After our recent scuffle with Hurricane Irene, we had a great weekend that was warm and sunny, which helped with my panic about summer ending. But, it got hot! I thought I might need more than just a spray of sweet smell, so I tried a little trick. Hold on to your make up cases ladies….I put the body mist in the fridge. I left it there all morning while I helped bake cookies, fill the beer fridge and set the iPod playlist. Right around noon when the sun really hit the dock and it got hot, I ran upstairs, grabbed it and sprayed. Not only was it great smelling, but the cold mist really hit the spot. I sprayed it right on my wrist pressure points and instantly felt it cool me down. Fresh smelling and cool, I was ready to keep that dock rocking.

For those of you lucky enough to live somewhere where the summer lasts a few more weeks, I recommend this spray, and won’t be mad if you steal my refrigerator trick! Kiss

Does anyone else have any tricks to stay refreshed in the last few moments of summer? Have you tried Dove’s body mists?
