auracaciaBaby Love here!  I always feel like a pervert or a sex addict when I buy massage oils.  I kind of equate it to when I’d have to buy a box of condoms.  I look at the 16 year old kid ringing me up and think, “I wonder if he thinks I’m going to use this for, ya know?”  The truth is, sometimes you can use sensual massage oils for non sensual purposes.

We love, love, love Aura Cacia here at Meg’s.  We have had the pleasure of reviewing their body creams, kid’s washes, and bath salts.  So, when I was at our local apothecary the other day, and my eyes fell upon, “Sensual Jasmine Aromatherapy Massage oil,” I knew I had to try it.  I love oils.  I use them in my hair, on my face for a moisturizer, and most recently discovered that I prefer to use them as a moisturizer for my feet, legs, elbows, and hands in the cold New England winter months.  When I got home with my new purchase, I immediately saw my husband’s interest perk.  “Is that for us?” he asked.   I said, “Yes, you can massage my feet later on.”

The scent of jasmine has long been considered an aphrodisiac and a women’s oil.  It is thought to have hormonal balancing properties, and has been in the past rubbed onto the abdomen of women who are in labor.  Aroma- therapists believe that jasmine is a natural anti-depressant, which helps in opening pleasant pathways and reducing fears.  After learning all of this, I thought about drinking my bottle, but decided against it.

I’m so grateful that the majority of the world knows what Jasmine smells like and that I don’t have to try and explain it.  We can all agree, hopefully, that it smells pretty glorious.  After I took my first run in almost six months, and the urge to vomit passed, I jumped right into the shower, looking forward to having a chance to dip into my new purchase.  When I applied this to my body, all of the dry parts pretty much drank it right up.  I worked it in with very little mess, and I smelled so good.  The scent lingered in the rooms that I passed through almost the entire night.  My mother actually asked me if I had a new candle burning.  I know I’m making it sound like the smell was overwhelming, but it wasn’t.  It was just a calm, minimal scent. Some creams have such a potent smell, but these essential oils are just perfect.  It did leave me feeling content, but unfortunately for my husband I didn’t go looking for him to tear his clothes off!

Aura Cacia
products are all essential oil based.   Their website has an extremely interesting directory of all the essential oils they use, with detailed descriptions of their aroma therapeutic properties.  You can actually search by the kind of mood you’re looking to set, and a list of the oils that are known to, for example, invigorate you, will pop up.  From there, you can search their oils, body creams, home fragrances, and washes to find your perfect fit.

This line is so unique and with the holiday’s right around the corner, it deserves a close look.  I know that sometimes year after year, I end up picking up the same junk for an aunt or cousin.  And year after year, I go to Yankee Candle for my kid’s teachers.  Not this year though, I just bought relaxing lavender room spritzes for their classrooms, and body washes after their long days!
